[Berfordshire, United Kingdom] November 8, 2024 — Pipotchi, a solo developer working in partnership with independent publishing platform indie.io, proudly announces that Asterogues will leave Early Access on Steam on November 20, 2024. This cosmic bullet-hell action roguelite challenges players to dodge and weave through a Solar System filled with trigger-happy enemies, battling up the celestial chain in a quest for revenge against the tyrannical Sun.
Asterogues brings a unique twist to the "shooter" roguelite format with a unique cast of characters that never just simply "shoot". Each character has a distinct motivation for rebellion and high-risk-reward abilities that place them in the line of danger. Players will find Pluto catching enemy bullets in orbit and launching them back in a powerful volley, while Orion hurls a chakram that can be repeatedly caught, amplifying its damage infinitely. These unique abilities introduce twists that make each playthrough a fresh experience.
“I’ve always had a passion for weird game mechanics and blending genres,” says Mark Mesmay, solo developer of Asterogues. “My goal is to create as many new twists on the regular format as possible- so if you’re looking for something different in the busy top-down shooter roguelite genre, then consider diving into Asterogues!”
The entire Solar System stands against this gallery of rogues: swarms of angry asteroids, aliens, and stars seeking favor with the Sun. Aiding players in the fight is a vast arsenal of passive and active items, ensuring no two runs are alike. With over 260 items, from the Hive Mind, which transforms shots into bees, to the Plasma Ball, which sticks enemies to the outside of a protective bubble, there is a wide range of items for players to mix and match in search of the ultimate, overpowered build.
After a year of Early Access updates, the full release adds the climactic boss fight against the Sun and introduces new recruits who will aid in battles with planets and the final showdown. The more recruits players gather, the better their chances of success. The release also includes a new zone, item system reworks, a ton of new enemies, and a new unlockable character! The campaign has also been reworked to add side zones, where players can pick up recruits at the risk of facing formidable planet bosses.
Asterogues, the creation of solo developer Pipotchi, will exit Early Access orbit on Steam on November 20, 2024. For the latest updates and community support, join the Asterogues community on Discord. Players can dive into Early Access ahead of its 1.0 launch.
